Camper Gear of the Year: Free Spirit Energy Windwalker Wind Generator

free-spirit-energy-wind-generatorsImagine having a power source trickle charge your camper batteries twenty four hours a day, for free. Enter Free Spirit Energy Windwalker wind generator systems for truck campers.

The concept has tremendous potential to extend the power source options available to truck campers.

As long as the wind is blowing at six to seven miles per hour, the Windwalker 150 will trickle charge your camper battery, including at night when solar panels are inactive. It puts out up to five amps, which is more than some trickle chargers.

Keep in mind that five amps is at maximum efficiency. Actual charge varies just like the solar panel systems with clouds.

Overall, the Windwalker 150 is cheaper, a little lighter, and starts with less wind speed.

The Windwalker 250 will start turning in eight to nine mile per hour wind. It gives you up to eight amps and performs like a full battery charger. It’s more expensive and takes more wind.

Camper Innovation of the Year: Torklift International Landing Pad rear bumper for Palomino RV

Torklift International is on a mission to make truck camper bumpers more capable, functional, and just plain old gotta-have-it desirable.

Enter Palomino RV’s Landing Pad, by Torklift International. What started with the co-development of the Fox Landing with Northwood Manufacturing soon lead to new Torklift International bumpers for Northstar.

When Northstar’s Torklift International bumpers debuted at Louisville, Palomino took notice. What happened next is something you have to see: the Palomino RV Landing Pad.

The Landing Pad features two storage compartments that are lockable so that people can put in fishing poles, camping chairs, Torklift FastGuns, and other items that need to be stored and locked outside.

There are also accessory ports for ski racks, bike racks, a swing around BBQ.

There a lot of future possibilities for attachments. And, due to the mounting design, this bumper will fit on the 2902, 2910, and 2911 models. That includes all years they have built them.
