Our Fallen Soldier

Our Fallen Soldier was founded on August 1, 2006 by the family of Sgt. Kyle A. Colnot, who was killed in action on April 22, 2006 outside of Baghdad, Iraq.

Kyle was eulogized as a true blue infantryman, his mission on earth is done, ours has just begun.

Currently there are thousands of troops deployed. Over 6400 of our patriots have given their lives for our freedom. Each and every one of them must be remembered—remembered for their valor, loyalty to the United States of America, and willingness to lay down their lives for us and the liberation of our fellow man in distant lands.

Fallen Soldier

I am a Fallen Soldier.
Served my Country, just my family’s sacrifice.
My name is listed with the others,
husbands, wives, sons and daughters
who fought for your freedom, it came with the same price.

To my Country, for whom I served
I hope for those who did not know me
Enjoy your freedom for which you deserve
But please remember my family who paid for your freedom,
they paid the ultimate price.

RVC Outdoor Destinations Completes Upgrades at Florida Resort

Live Oak Landing, an RVC Outdoor Destination vacation property, announced the completion of numerous improvements to the resort, just in time for the summer travel season.

The property added more than three dozen modern RV sites and several new amenities designed to enhance each guest’s stay.

A screen-enclosed saline swimming pool with connected observation deck and lounge area, large playground area, and air conditioning in the resort’s pavilion are among the new additions to RVC’s Live Oak Landing.

Handicap-accessible boat tours are another new feature highlighted at the outdoor destination. These charters—called “Pondtoon” boats—allow individuals with disabilities to navigate the water on vessels specially manufactured to accommodate wheelchairs. Additionally, RVC increased the number of RV sites on the property, nearly tripling the number of space available for RV travelers.

“When we opened the property in November 2010, it was important to us to first define our core audience and add amenities as our guests requested them,” said Neil Sorrell, general manager at Live Oak Landing.

“So, after talking to our guests, we pinpointed additions that will give them exactly what they’re looking for in a memorable outdoor travel experience.”

At Live Oak Landing, guests have access to Florida’s Emerald Coast beaches and a wide range of onsite activities, including fishing charters, scooter, bicycle and boat rentals, and activities pavilion with a flat screen TV. The outdoor vacation property also features unique amenities in line with other RVC Outdoor Destination properties such as concierge service, coffee, beer and wine bars, a dog park and a variety of lodging options from RV sites to cottages.

Live Oak Landing is the only provider of overnight accommodations in the city of Freeport and is one of seven RVC Outdoor Destination locations in the United States.

“What we’re providing at RVC Outdoor Destinations is an upgraded version of what generally comes to mind when people think of camping,” said Andy Cates, president of RVC Outdoor Destinations.

“We’re redefining the outdoor vacation experience by combining guests’ favorite hotel amenities with their favorite outdoor activities, and it’s really gaining popularity with both avid and novice campers alike.”

Live Oak Landing is located along Black Creek in South Walton County at 229 Pitts Avenue in Freeport, Florida.

Pine Mountain RV Resort to Host Car Rally Benefiting Our Fallen Soldier

Pine Mountain RV Resort, an RVC Outdoor Destination vacation property, will host its first annual car show called “Cruisin’ Cars on the Mountain” during Father’s Day weekend from June 16-17.

The event is open to the public, and a portion of all proceeds will go to Our Fallen Soldier, a charity that aids families of soldiers who lost their lives in the line of duty.

“At Pine Mountain RV Resort, we’re dedicated to helping the troops who have so bravely sacrificed for our country,” said Jim Anderson, general manager at Pine Mountain in a news release.

“This fundraiser is very important to us because the money raised will help family members of those men and women who have given their lives for our country, and we encourage as many people as possible to come out and support this worthwhile cause.”

Antique, classic, and muscle cars will be on display at the event and attendees will be able to vote to help select winners.

Guests will also enjoy live music, catered barbeque, hot dogs, and drinks from local vendors, raffles, and children’s activities.

Each and every one of them must be remembered—remembered for their valor, loyalty to the United States of America, and willingness to
lay down their lives for us and the liberation of our fellow man in distant lands.

Worth Pondering…

Fallen Soldier

I am a Fallen Soldier.
Served my Country, just my family’s sacrifice.
My name is listed with the others,
husbands, wives, sons and daughters
who fought for your freedom, it came with the same price.
To my family, I miss you too.
In the quiet hours when you feel alone
Just remember I always thought of you
and dreamed of coming home.
At the Memorial, I’ll be there with you
Helmet, guns and boots and the sound of the guns salutes.
Tears of sorrow and eulogy
You loved so much, but I hope you’re proud of me.
To my Country, for whom I served
I hope for those who did not know me
Enjoy your freedom for which you deserve
But please remember my family who paid for your freedom,
they paid the ultimate price.
