“The Avail has many new features previously unavailable on motorhome mounted tow bars that will excite motorhome owners who want to take their cars or trucks with them as they travel,” said Blue Ox President and CEO Ellen Kietzmann in a news release.

“These features include improved turning radius with better cornering, more maneuverability, and smoother towing over rough roads. With the Avail , the motorhome maneuvers around gas pumps with greater ease and keeps the towed vehicle safely away from the motorhome in tight turns.”

Other features include patented non-binding latches that release easily under any conditions, and no interference, low profile handle design.

The Avail has a 10,000-pound tow capacity accommodating virtually all cars and pickups. It is constructed with high-quality tempered steel ensuring long life and durability and back by a three-year warranty.

“We reinvented the tow bar, not only in function, but also, in appearance. The Avail features the Blue Ox name in a raised, gold-toned badge. The arms are painted in a premium metallic copper paint,” said Chad Wall, Blue Ox marketing manager.

“Previously, the arms were painted black with Blue Ox name in white. This distinctive new look increases ‘curb appeal’ and more closely matches the colors used in the livery designs found on today’s motor coaches and will attract attention from other RVers who see it at campgrounds.”

Prime Time Introduces Avenger Lightweight Toy Hauler Line

Capitalizing on a void in the market for low-priced, lightweight toy hauler models, Wakarusa, Indiana-based Prime Time Manufacturing, will introduce the new Avenger 18TH travel trailer toy hauler at this year’s Fifth Annual Elkhart County RV Open House, September 16-18.

Prime Time Avenger“Our Prime Time dealers have been begging for us to enter this market,” said Joe Luther, Avenger product manager, in a news release.

“Building upon the fantastic momentum that we already have with our Avenger trailers, this is a natural progression for the lineup. Even though we are targeting an entirely new customer with the 18TH, we’ve remained true to what’s made our products successful; great looks, intelligent floor plan design, and aggressive pricing.”

The new SUT exterior features a full-sized ramp door with a 2,500-pound load capacity, oversized tires and axles, aluminum wheels, and power tongue jack.

A versatile Murphy Bed and folding dinette benches allow for over 17 feet of front-to-back hauling capacity that will accommodate two motorcycles.

A pull-down screen enclosure, fully equipped kitchen, large bathroom, and cherry cabinetry throughout combine to provide excellent livability in the interior.

“With a dry weight of 4,500 pounds and a low price point, this new product is in a class all by itself,” stated Luther.

“Not only will it appeal to the traditional toy hauler customers, but the flexibility and versatility provided by the innovative design will significantly expand the potential customer base to outdoor enthusiasts of all kinds.”

The Avenger 18TH has a base MSRP of $19,575.

A second Avenger SUT floor plan is slated for introduction at the 52nd National RV Trade Show in Louisville, Kentucky, December 2 to 4.

Livin’ Lite Restyles Interior Cabinetry

Wakarusa, Indiana-based Livin’ Lite Recreational Vehicles LLC, introduced an altogether restyled interior cabinetry look in its line of ultra-light campers at the recent National RV Trade Show in Louisville, Kentucky.

“As Livin Lite continues to evolve our unique all-aluminum and composite built product line-up to better fit in with mainstream buyers, we listened to both our dealers and customers about what we can do better,” Scott Tuttle, president of Livin’ Lite said in a news release.

“What we heard was we needed to soften up our interiors even more, and possibly eliminate some of the shiny, aluminum edges and trim on the cabinetry and walls.

“Well, we did just that with our new optional black powder coated trim package, which is available in our traditional maple cabinetry or our new rich, cherry cabinetry.

“While we will still build a number of units with the bright aluminum trim, especially in our toy hauler lines, this new powder coated look really helps our unique wood-free products attain a true residential look.”

The new interior packages are available in the Livin’ Lite’s popular Camplite travel trailers and truck campers, and will also be featured in an ultra lightweight fifth wheel that Livin’ Lite plans to launch in 2013.

Earlier this year, Livin’ Lite received a No. 1 rating for ultra-lightweight towables from third-party, consumer-produced JR Consumer Resources.

Livin’ Lite was the only manufacturer to garner an overall rating of “10” – the highest possible rating – in the highly competitive category.

There were also “above average” and “economy” categories.

Because the campers are so lightweight, they can be towed by even the smallest cars. Livin’ Lite’s Quicksilver camper was named Roaming Times’ Green RV of the year in 2008 for its energy-saving lightness, long-life all-aluminum construction, and completely formaldehyde-free construction.

Livin’ Lite was identified as one of the 500 fastest growing companies in the U.S. in the September 2010 issue of Inc. magazine.

Holiday Rambler Marks 60th Anniversary

Lisle, Illinois-based Navistar RV, a subsidiary of Navistar International Corp., marked the 60th anniversary of its Holiday Rambler brand at the Recreation Vehicle Industry Association’s (RVIA) 50th annual National RV Trade Show, November 27-29 at the Kentucky Expo Center, Louisville, Kentucky.

The company introduced three model-year 2014 vehicles. The new Presidential will reestablish Holiday Rambler’s presence in the luxury fifth-wheel category while the company will continue to build and sell motorhomes with the reintroduction of its Augusta Class C B-plus style coach and the new Vacationer, an entry-level class A gas coach, according to a news release.

“We are very pleased to mark the 60th anniversary of Holiday Rambler, a preeminent brand in the history of recreational vehicles,” said Bill Osborne, president, Navistar RV.

“Throughout its long life, Holiday Rambler’s success has been fueled by its pioneering spirit, including countless innovations that helped create a new way for families to go exploring and enjoy a rich, rewarding life.”

Holiday Rambler travel trailer 1954

The first Holiday Rambler was a travel trailer introduced to the public in 1953.

In 1961, the brand’s introduction of aluminum body framing ushered in an era of lighter, stronger, and more durable RVs. Alumaframe became the standard for RVs for 40 years.

Holiday Rambler was also responsible for many firsts, including built-in refrigerators, holding tanks and aerodynamic radiused corners.

As Holiday Rambler moved into motorhomes, it was the first with tag axles, and its kitchen slide out revolutionized interior engineering in the field.

Holiday Rambler was sold to the Monaco Coach Corp. in 1996.

Navistar, Inc., a producer of school buses, commercial trucks, and defense vehicles, acquired Monaco RV in 2009.

“While we are proud of Holiday Rambler’s rich history, we aren’t stuck in it,” Osborne added. “We continue to introduce new designs, exciting new options and features, and wonderfully realized floor plans that can accommodate the changing needs of consumers.”

The new Presidential is a maneuverable and roomy fifth wheel that offers the appointments of a luxury motorized RV. A wide-body design, combined with a unique chassis platform, provides industry-leading exterior storage with both front and rear pass-through storage. Premium construction methodologies include a 100 percent gel-coat exterior (no metal skirt), thicker laminated walls, composite structure panels, frameless windows, and arched roof trusses.

Notable interior features include Lane-brand leather furniture, a fireplace, and pull-out desk, flat screen TVs in the living room and bedroom, a walk-in shower and tiered bathroom vanity with vessel sink, and available dishwasher and stack washer/dryer. Storage is plentiful, with a full-size pantry, and custom dinnerware, and glassware drawers.

The new Vacationer SE offers customers the high-end features of a diesel coach — Smart Structure chassis system, ergonomically designed cockpit, soft-touch ceiling, and generous pass-through storage — at the lower price of a gas vehicle. The new Augusta is a maneuverable and compact motorized RV with maximum space and inventive design features including a Murphy bed folds away to allow for a larger living area.

Holiday Rambler Presidential fifth-wheel

“These new vehicles are proof positive that Holiday Rambler continues to expand its product line and create models that aim at fulfilling the needs that are seen amongst today’s RV consumer community,” said Osborne.

Thor Motor Coach Introduces Supersized Super C Motorhomes

Elkhart, Indiana-based Thor Motor Coach introduces the new 33SW F550 Super C motorhomes.

The units debuted at the National RV Trade Show, November 27-29 in Louisville, Kentucky.

“These new “heavy duty” diesel powered Ford F-550 Super Duty Class C motorhomes will be available in both the Four Winds and Chateau brands, rounding out two of the most recognized and popular Class C brands in the market,” said Joel Grimm, national sales manager for gas motorhomes at Thor Motor Coach

Sporting a Ford F-550 chassis, the 33SW has a gross vehicle weight rating topping out at 19,500 pounds.

“Power comes from a fuel-sipping PowerStroke 6.7L diesel engine flexing a full 300 hp, and hefty 660 foot pounds of torque. That powerful combination, along with the Ford 6-speed transmission allows the 33SW to maximize the 10,000-pound trailer hitch,” said Grimm.

The coach comes standard with an electronic brake controller integrated in the dash, so consumers simply get in and go.

“The HD-MAX exterior offers a sizzling, high-end exterior finish,” he noted.

“Every 33SW comes with a long list of standard exterior features which include a 5.5-kw Onan generator with automatic start, dual 13,500-Btu roof air conditioners, slam latch baggage doors, Bigfoot leveling jacks, and a fully molded, one-piece front cap.”

Thor Motor Coach C 33SW F550 Super C Motorhome

Things get even better inside the 33SW with features which resemble a luxury yacht, instead of a Class C motorhome.

Residential refrigerator, 30-inch over-the-range microwave, Solid surface countertops, solar and privacy window roller shades, and a 1,800-watt power inverter make the short list of game-changing features.

“We are confident this new 33SW will turn heads with the additional living space created using the F550 chassis,” said Grimm.

“Features like diesel power, more maneuverability, better towing capability  and better driving comfort  are what our customers tell us is missing from the larger Class C market.”

The 37MD features a second slide room, which is dual-purposed as a second living area or dedicated bedroom. This functionality is the result of input from consumers looking to own a motorized toy hauler for hauling people and toys, but also wanting to have a motorhome that can be converted for full-time camping.

The 37MD exterior provides large, side-opening, storage compartments, full body paint packages, and separate entries for the living room and garage.

An exterior fueling station can be used to fill-up ATVs and dirt bikes, while outside entertainment options include garage radio controls, wall-mounted marine grade speakers, and a 32-inch LCD TV located under the patio awning.
