From Modern-day Ark To Futuristic Helicopter: 5 Cool Trailers To Love

Mobility and living on the move are important themes in today’s fast-moving world.

Fun, creative, and futuristic, here are five revolutionary RV models that are sure to turn heads.

Blue Eye Noah

This revolutionary RV model is considered as a modern-day Ark constructed for those “Blue-eyed Noahs” with full protections and best facilities, it’s an ultimate sanctuary more than the pleasure road trips in leisure days.

An innovative design for multiple uses—recreational mobile home for fun, safety, and survival. Optional packages will give this RV multi-function adaptability to serve as a boat house, ice-fishing house, snowmobile house, and even to meet other challenging landscapes.

Innovan

The efficient and flexible Innovan slide-on truck camper

The efficient and flexible Innovan slide-on truck camper and the Innovan XC off-road trailer caravan are really quite different from anything else on the market.

The Innovan can be fully setup including awning is less than 30 seconds. It opens out like a Swiss Army Knife. When configured for travel, the aerodynamic shape of the camper minimizes wind drag and the cross-wind problems usually associated with campers and vans. Its light weight means that when attached to a four wheel drive, it can go just about anywhere.

This space-efficient caravan is designed to seamlessly slide onto the back of a truck and comes with a whopping 13 storage compartments for all your outdoor gear. It weighs 1,100 pounds and boasts a queen-size bed, pull-out dining area, and air conditioning, among a slew of other sweet features.

SylvanSport GO

Lightweight and easy to manage, the SylvanSport GO can be pulled by even the smallest of cars.
Lightweight and easy to manage, the SylvanSport GO can be pulled by even the smallest of cars.

Billed as “Mobile Adventure Gear” rather than a trailer, the Sylvan Sport Go is an 840-pound pop-up trailer that can carry extra gear and outdoor equipment such as canoes and trailers and can be towed by a small car.

To complement its GO trailer line, SylvanSport has recently introduced the GO-Easy adventure trailer.

Bufalino

Bufalino Camper

German industrial designer Cornelius Comanns has converted the existing Piaggio APE 50 three-wheeled delivery vehicle, a cheap, and fuel efficient platform, into a small camper, called the Bufalino.

It is a small camper which is equipped to meet the basic needs of one person. The concept behind the project is to offer absolute flexibility during periods of travel.

Bufalino encourages users to explore the surrounding off beaten tracks. Meanwhile the furnished interior consisting of a bed, two seating units, a cooking zone, a basin, storage space, a water tank, and a refrigerator offers the comforts of a home.

Monopod 660

Out of this world: the Monopod 660 is the first ever caravan from IH Leisure

Is it a spaceship on wheels? Is it a futuristic helicopter?

A wildly futuristic space-age vehicle, the Monopod 660 is a high-end luxury caravan with an extraordinary striking look. The name derives from the one piece monocoque body shell, a design technique taken from the automotive industry which allows stresses and strains on the vehicle to be carried by the outer skin.

The front section is reminiscent of a helicopter with its slanted separate windows and curved front, while the design allows for a pure shape with few visible joins.

Inside, the Monopod 660 feels like stepping into a boutique hotel from another age, with warm contrasting tones and rich woods. The Truma blown air heating system is used throughout, while the lounge area is large and well appointed with comfortable foam back rests.

Cool Trailers: From Vistabule To Ecco

In a day where many recreational vehicles can easily cost six-figures and measure 40-feet or more, some customers are looking for alternatives to the mass-produced recreational vehicles.

Life on the road can be enjoyed in a distinctly different, fun, and creative trailer in one of five ways:

Vistabule

Vistabule Introduces ‘Cab Forward’ Teardrop Trailer
Vistabule is a popular ‘Cab Forward’ teardrop trailer

Streamlined and weighing just 1,220 pounds, the Vistabule teardrop trailer can be towed behind nearly any small car.

Oversized windows and a cab-forward design set the Vistabule apart by offering panoramic views that no other teardrop trailer offers. You’re oriented to the front where all the action is. The huge window affords a view to the world as well as the sky.

The queen sized bed converts in seconds into a delightful sitting space with a fold up table and the smartly fitted kitchen allows people to prepare meals while protected from rain and sun.

Colim

The Colim Caravan Concept
The Colim Caravan Concept

Facing the dilemma of whether to buy a new motorhome and toad, truck and fifth wheel trailer, or SUV and travel trailer or caravan?

The brain child of German designer Christian Susana, the futuristic looking Colim (an acronym meaning Colors of Life in Motion) is an attractive combination of car and a caravan camper—the perfect example of an intelligent motorhome design. The Colim motorhome allows drivers to detach the cockpit so they can drive around the resort more efficiently. The vehicle has a top speed of 90mph.

Lil Snoozy

Lil’ Snoozy Goes Camping
Lil’ Snoozy Goes Camping

A fiberglass trailer with an ultra-aerodynamic shape and clean flowing curves, Lil Snoozy is available directly from the manufacturer.

Customers love the Lil Snoozy because Lil’ is only 17 feet, 3 inches in length; 7 feet, 11 inches in width; and 7 feet, 5 inches high. The interior space is 14 feet, 6 inches by 6 feet, 6 inches. There’s a bathroom with shower across from a kitchen area (with sink, refrigerator, and microwave), a couch in front of an entertainment center, and a queen bed.

Within a unique two piece fiberglass unit modern coring materials and state of the art manufacturing processes have been incorporated, adding strength and insulating properties, while tremendously reducing weight.

DoubleBack

DoubleBack Ultimate Camper Van
DoubleBack Ultimate Camper Van

Looking for the freedom and mobility offered by a mid-to-full-size recreational vehicle, but want the practicality and fuel efficiency of a camper van too? The DoubleBack may just be the ultimate camper van that you’ve been looking for.

What makes the DoubleBack unique is just how much space it actually has, and how easily you can expand or contract its size to fit your recreational needs.

Need more room? Use the electric slide-out rear pod to extend the vehicle’s rear. You can even expand the roof and walk around the camper van’s kitchen and lounge.

The Ecco is set to revolutionize the humble camper van with space-age design that includes collapsible walls and a flip-top upper deck.

A futuristic camper van, the Ecco doubles in size by flipping open “like a Swiss Army knife.”

Since space is the main theme, in design and concept, passengers enter the 15-foot-long electric vehicle from the rear through a huge stairway that folds into the ceiling. The space is then transformed with a flip-out top deck, expandable walls, and fold-down seats for extra room.

The eco-friendly camper van can sleep a family of five and boasts a kitchen, bathroom, and lounge area.

Live Off-grid In An Ecocapsule

No humpty dumpty trailer but reminiscent of the Eggcamper, the futuristic Ecocapsule is poised to take the RV industry by storm.

Live Off-grid In An Ecocapsule
Live Off-grid In An Ecocapsule

For many the appeal of an RV road trip is enhanced by getting away from it all and living off the grid for a few days. Now, one design company seems to have taken the idea and turned it on its head, with the introduction of the Ecocapsule.

Slovakian design firm, Nice Architects, has built the egg-shaped Ecocapsule to allow those who wish to live off-grid to do so in great style. Despite looking like something more akin to a dinosaur egg from the Jurassic era, the capsule’s modern design and amenities are certainly a futuristic pod option to take seriously.

Packed into a compact form, the solar-and-wind-powered Ecocapsule merges an energy efficient shape, compact volume, and off-grid capabilities with the luxuries of a warm bed, running water, and a hot meal. The completely self-sustaining design, featuring its own solar panel system and high-capacity 9,700-watt-hour battery, tripled with a 750-watt wind turbine, allows for up to a year’s worth of energy.

The spherical, egg-shaped design allows for the collection of rainwater and dew to travel through water filters and provide fresh drinking water on tap. The water filters embedded in the upper surface of the pod purify rainwater and then funnels it into a sub-floor tank.

Live Off-grid In An Ecocapsule
Live Off-grid In An Ecocapsule

Dubbed “the first truly independent micro-home,” the real beauty of the Ecocapsule is that it allows you to camp anywhere you wish to travel. Whether you want to set up camp at the beach, on a mountain, in a cornfield, or in the tundra, this self-sustaining pod will keep you protected from the elements in style.

Able to be towed by a standard vehicle, but light enough to be towed by an animal according to Nice Architects, the options for where to camp seem rather endless and, despite lacking in size when compared to other trailers or caravans (it’s 14 feet 7 inches long and 7 feet 10 inches wide), it’s certainly not lacking in essentials featuring two berths, a built-in kitchenette with running water, flushing toilet, hot shower, as well as comfortable bed.

The Ecocapsule hasn’t just been created for those looking for a leisurely escape though, and it has also been designed to provide shelter in disaster areas, as well as doubling as a scientific research station in regions which are more difficult to reach by way of conventional methods.

The Ecocapsule was unveiled for public viewing for the first time at the 2015 Pioneers Festival on May 28 in Vienna, and will be available for purchase later in the year.

Live Off-grid In An Ecocapsule
Live Off-grid In An Ecocapsule

There’s no word yet on what this high-tech and environmentally conscious mobile home will cost you yet, but just think of it this way: You’ll never have to pay another utilities bill again. And you get to live on the road — forever.

What do you think of the Ecocapsule? Is this the ultimate in campers?

Or would you think UFOs have landed with extra-terrestrial life forms as neighbors if they camped next to you?

Details

Ecocapsule

Even though small in size, each Ecocapsule comfortably houses two adults. Its efficient spatial layout allows you to enjoy convenience of household facilities in off-grid conditions. Built-in kitchenette with running water, flushing toilet and hot shower are luxuries of a hotel room that are now also available in wilderness.

Despite its small form each Ecocapsule is fitted with all essentials necessary for a comfortable prolonged stay without a need to recharge or re-supply.

EverGreen RV Introduces New Ever-Lite Travel Trailer Floor Plan

Middlebury, Indiana-based EverGreen Recreational Vehicles’ flagship Ever-Lite travel trailer, increases floor plan choices with the newest 292FLBS.

EverGreen RV Introduces New Ever-Lite Travel Trailer Floor Plan
EverGreen RV Introduces New Ever-Lite Travel Trailer Floor Plan

As with all Ever-Lite models the 292FLBS is built with ComposiTek construction. The Ever-Lite brand remains the only composite travel trailer on the market today.

The ComposiTek construction isn’t the only feature that sets the 292FLBS apart from other travel trailers. There are plenty of standard amenities throughout and opportunities to customize that make the Ever-Lite brand a popular choice among savvy campers in search of a coach that will last a lifetime.

An entry door at the front of the trailer opens into the large living area. The 90-inch horseshoe lounge with freestanding table sits in the 42-inch deep slide opposite the entrance. An optional sofa with two end tables is available in place of the lounge. At the front of the living area is another sofa with valuable overhead storage above. This sofa can also be replaced with two optional swivel rockers. Natural light fills the room from the skylight above making the space feel even larger.

A spacious kitchen full of cabinets and a huge pantry provide plenty of food storage. The 292FLBS features a unique slide-out wardrobe/pantry that is strategically located for optimal functionality. The wardrobe slide is next to the kitchen, across from the bathroom and outside the bedroom for food, linen or clothing storage in the hallway.

“This bedroom slide model offers people more interior living space without the added length,” said Vice President of Sales and Marketing Doug Lantz.

“Our new 292FLBS is as much as 1,600 pounds lighter, and two to three feet shorter than other bedroom slide models on the market today.”

The bedroom has more than just a residential style closet with mirrored, sliding doors. Nightstands on both sides of the bed, under bed storage with gas-assisted struts, a large dresser and overhead storage provide more than enough room for camping essentials.

A generous sized bathroom also has a large amount of countertop space, uncommon in similar travel trailers. Above the curved front shower a skylight floods the room with natural light.

The Ever-Lite remains EverGreen’s innovative, composite flagship brand. The up-front investment in composite materials, and the complexity of manufacturing with composites, are just two of the reasons the EverGreen Ever-Lite remains the only composite travel trailer built to this day.

Tumbleweed: An RV Like You’ve Never Seen Before

The openness of the Linden great room, perfect for small gatherings of family and friends, and the innovative new loft are the major features of this Tiny House RV.

The RV was named Tumbleweed because it had roots and was mobile at the same time. And in that moment, the seeds for an RV revolution were planted.

Designed to fit specifically on trailers, these bona fide mini wooden homes can hook up to your tow vehicle, or be permanently fixed on land and connected to water and electricity.

With an original focus on do-it-yourself homes, Tumbleweed issued The Small House Book, created new house designs, and offered workshops across the country.

Tumbleweed’s two-day workshops (pricing starts at $279) attracted more than 2,500 attendees a year.

The workshops revealed that not all customers want to build their own homes and would be interested in purchasing completed projects.

In response, Tumbleweed began building and delivering houses on wheels. In 2013 its mobile models gained national certification from the Recreation Vehicle Industry Association (RVIA) as park trailers—a move that helped overcome zoning obstacles and qualified the residences for financing.

The design of the Cypress Tiny House RV makes use of the most interior space, by incorporating a corner porch and utilizing the extra room as interior space.

Tumbleweed has become a lifestyle choice for a diverse set of customers, from young people with a need for an affordable first home to Baby Boomers who want to downsize to those who simply want to add space, perhaps by putting a tiny house on wheels in the backyard or at the lake.

TRA Certification reported that Tumbleweed earned high marks for resource efficiency with a manufacturing facility that recycles multiple materials, down to the smallest pieces of wood and wire.

Every river makes a journey.

Twisting and turning.

Flowing down canyons, across meadows, past cities and towns.

Joining with streams and creeks and other rivers, to eventually end in the sea.

Is ForFreedom The RV of The Future?

The arrival of 2015 signals not only a time to look back on the past year, and more importantly, forward to the coming year. It’s a time to reflect on the changes we want (or need) to make and resolve to follow through on those changes.

Given the hectic, stressful lifestyles of millions of Americans and Canadians, it is no wonder that “enjoying life more” and “relaxing in the outdoors” have become popular resolutions in recent years.

As an important step to a happier and healthier living, more and more families are choosing the RV lifestyle as a means of relaxation in the great outdoors.

The arrival of a New Year also signals the introduction of new motorhomes, fifth wheels, travel trailers, and other recreational vehicles and accessories.

But have you ever thought about what RVs of the not-so-distant future will look like?

Is ForFreedom The RV of The Future? (Source: tuvie.com)
Is ForFreedom The RV of The Future? (Source: tuvie.com)

Sure, we’ve seen the Caraviso, Buffalino, Romotow, Colim, and numerous other concepts, but the ForFreedom may be the one that blows all of the others out of the water.

Designed for ‘urban living’, the ForFreedom is touted as being an ‘expanded living unit’ for the urban couple in need of a short break.

The flowing caravan trailer form is aimed at creating stability and fuel economy. Due to its compact size, this caravan trailer is easy to handle and connect to your car.

The interior has been designed to be easy to personalize. The interior includes a modern style with a very simple finish that can easily be adapted to match the owner’s style and taste. Gone are the standard finishes and stereotypical furniture of existing RVs on the market today. Comfortable as well as functional, it contains a larger seating area and spacious full size double bed.

Although the ForFreedom looks rather small from the outside, you’d be surprised at how spacious it really is. And that is a result of the sliding chassis and pivoted center, which allows for the living unit to open up and expand into a large living space with potential to create a panoramic view, the likes of which you’ve never seen before.

For efficient heating, the walls are made of sandwiched fiber glass with closed cell insulation.

Internal electric heating with solar panel on the rear section to provide a more environmentally friendly alternative to standard motorhomes and trailers. Discrete storage solutions, including large rear storage can also be accessed from outside for convenience during transport.

At arrival this compact living unit opens up with the aid of a sliding chassis and pivot on the one side to dramatically increase the size of the living space. Through the use of an adjustable canopy a private lounge area is created with a panoramic view of the surroundings.

Additional detail explanation from the designer includes:

Double Comfort: Furnace & Hot Water Combined in One

Truma launched North America’s first forced air LP gas furnace with an integrated water heating function.

combi_us_bigThanks to its compact dimensions, energy-efficient technology, and quiet operation, the Truma Combi has been the best-selling RV furnace in Europe and Australia for more than 20 years.

The Truma Combi boasts an excellent energy efficiency of approximately 90 percent, which means that the energy stored in propane is converted into heat virtually without loss, according to a company news release.

“This results in very low LP gas and electricity consumption for the furnace and boiler,” explains Gerhard Hundsberger, CEO of Truma Corp.

“It makes the Truma Combi a product that is environmentally-friendly and easy on your wallet.”

The Truma Combi is available in four models: the eco and comfort version operate on propane and rated at 14,300 and 20,400 BTU thermal output respectively.

The eco plus and comfort plus models include an electric option with three operating possibilities: propane, electricity, or both propane and electricity.

The “plus” models are equipped with 1,700-watt electrical heating elements at 120-volt AC.

In all modes, the furnace operates extremely quietly and maintains a constant, comfortable room temperature without variations. Three microprocessors provide intelligent temperature control in the device and ensure maximum safety. One processor controls performance while the other two monitor safety.

The Truma Combi is very compact and, at 35.1 pounds, it is one of the most lightweight heating systems on the market, said Hundsberger.

Double Comfort: Furnace & Hot Water Combined in One
Double Comfort: Furnace & Hot Water Combined in One

The remote cowl-kit requires a minimal wall cut-out diameter of 3.27 inches and provides flexibility in installation at different locations of the vehicle such as small storage spaces, closets, beneath beds, or benches.

Four air outlets on the heater and a special insulated duct system ensure optimal and uniform warm air distribution throughout the vehicle.

The digital LCD control panel “Truma CP plus” offers great operating ease and ensures a pleasant climate in the vehicle.

The near silent, variable speed fan can be set between four operating modes: “eco,” “high,” “boost,” and the fan only “vent” mode.

The boost function heats up the RV 15 percent quicker ensuring a pleasant room climate in no time. A “boost” function is also available for the boiler, providing longer showers with shorter waiting times.

Additionally, all functions can be set easily and conveniently thanks to a programmable timer. For instance, it is possible to program a lower room temperature at night or activate the hot water “Boost” function an hour before the user wakes.

“The Truma Combi offers more convenience, comfort and efficiency and provides innovative German technology for heating and hot water in one device,” said Hundsberger.

Travelino—Lightweight Camper Of The Future Debuts At Motorhome Show

Last year, German camper specialist Knaus Tabbert used the Düsseldorf Caravan Salon to present its vision of the future camping trailer.

The yacht-inspired Caravisio was a large, luxurious home-on-wheels with improved aerodynamics. Thanks to the bed positioning, the front is arrow-shaped which has a positive effect on the upstream flow angle.

This year, Knaus went small, light and simple, presenting the Travelino concept, a compact trailer outfitted with space- and weight-saving features.

Strangely, Knaus appears to have abandoned all the aerodynamic headway it made with the Caravisio, reports gizmag.

The Travelino is much broader and less streamlined than last year’s concept trailer and appears less aerodynamic than most teardrops currently available in the marketplace. The curved trapezoidal prism is broad from every angle and unlike the aerodynamic Caravisio looks ill-equipped for head or crosswinds.

The focus of the Travelino is clearly not on the aero-efficient shape of the shell, but on the equipment, layout, and materials. The walls of the trailer are built from a lightweight, XPS foam-core material that helps the trailer maintain a base weight below 1,433 pounds (650 kg). Similarly, Knaus saves weight on the interior fixtures and furnishings through the use of a paper-based honeycomb board.

The 1,433-pound curb weight sounds less impressive when compared to the 400- to 1,000-pound (181 to 454 kg) weights of trailers already under production like the Teal Tail Feather, MyPod teardrop, and numerous other small lightweight trailers.

However, at over 13 feet (4 m), the Travelino is a few feet longer than the Teal Tail Feather and nearly double the size of diminutive teardrops like the MyPod Basic. Its mix of onboard amenities is also more extensive than any of those others, combining an indoor kitchen, dining area, double bed, bathroom, and outdoor kitchen.

Somewhat odd is the inclusion of both an indoor and outdoor kitchen in the Travelino design. It seems that a design so intent on saving weight and space would opt for one or the other.

Since Knaus does not mention any production plans, the Travelino seems likely to remain a design study for now.
