Dutchmen Showcases 2015 Denali Towable Product Lines

Goshen, Indiana-based Dutchmen Manufacturing entered the 2015 show season with great anticipation, particularly for its all-new Denali travel trailer and fifth wheel product line.

After implementing significant feature changes, Dutchmen Vice President of Sales Troy James said consumers have responded beyond his expectations.

“Since Open House, dealers have been really excited about the new Denali products. Now, with the retail show season in full swing, consumers are finding out exactly why the dealers are so fired up,” James explained in a company news release.

“We’ve seen big sales increases in the majority of shows. Over 70 percent of dealers at the retail shows are seeing significant sales lifts in the Denali products.”

In more detail, the changes start with what Denali Product Manager Carter Yoder has described as a Denali “fifth-wheel-like travel trailer.”

“I’ve been in this business for a long time, and I have to say that what we’ve done with this travel trailer is truly unique,” he explained.

“It has the floor plan and storage capacity of a fifth wheel, and with its deep, opposing slideouts and barrel ceiling, it just feels much bigger than it actually is. I call it our ‘fifth-wheel-like travel trailer.’”

More space is front and center with the 2015 Denali fifth wheels as well.

“In our fifth wheels, we’ve increased storage space by 22 percent, and we’ve added 5 inches of bedroom ceiling height in all floor plans, too,” said Yoder.

“Dutchmen is focused on value—giving customers more bang for the buck—and the 2015 Denali products do just that.”

All Denali products feature painted gel coat fiberglass front-end caps with LED lights, oyster-colored fiberglass exteriors, European-designed furniture with accent stitching, mosaic tile backsplashes, residential window treatments with soft drapes, and a host of other standard amenities.

The manufacturer’s suggested retail price starts at $23,483 (Denali 2371 RB Lite Travel Trailer).

“As was stated by one observer, there is no shortage of standard features when it comes to Denali. Combine that with the fact that we’re not the most expensive product in our class, and we think consumers are going to pretty quickly discover that Denali has redefined what value is all about,” Yoder added.

Denali is aggressively going after the lightweight towable market with Denali Northern Lite, a line offering travel trailers as well as fifth wheel trailers.

Dutchmen Introduces 20th anniversary Aerolite Ultralight Travel Trailer

To commemorate the 20th anniversary of Aerolite ultralight travel trailers, Dutchmen Manufacturing Inc. announced it will introduce an all new, totally redesigned 20th Anniversary Edition Aerolite at this year’s Elkhart County RV Open House, September 16-18.

“In many respects, Aerolite was the original ultralight travel trailer,” said Nick Eppert, Aerolite general manager, in a company news release.

“It was ahead of its time in the beginning, and this 20th Anniversary Edition builds on that tradition.”

“Aerolite has consistently introduced original, creative features and amenities,” said Troy James, Dutchmen vice president of sales.

“This 20th Anniversary Edition will continue that focus.”

Starting mid-September, all Aerolites produced will come with unique 20th Anniversary badging inside and out, bringing attention to the rich history of the Aerolite brand.

Normally, a company will single out one model to produce with special edition packaging, but not so with Aerolite.

“Every single model we produce will carry special features and options,” Eppert explained.

“The Aerolite 20th Anniversary Edition will not be a retro throwback. It will be solely focused on the future, with an inventive cutting-edge exterior design, upgraded plush residential interior and new, innovative floor plans.”

The 20th Anniversary Aerolite will be presented in the Dutchmen display at the RV Hall of Fame Museum in Elkhart September 16 to 18.

Dutchmen Introduces Redesigned Kodiak Ultra Lite Lineup

Goshen, Indiana-based Dutchmen Manufacturing Inc.’s redesigned Kodiak travel trailers, expandables, and toy haulers offer floor plans light enough to be towed by most SUVs, minivans, crossovers, and light trucks.

“Kodiak’s fashionable interiors and innovative floor plans have driven us to the forefront of the ultralight towable market,” said Aaron Young, Kodiak product manager, in a company news release.

“We’ve designed Kodiak with an eye toward aerodynamic lighter weights, but we’re certainly not light on looks. In today’s RV copycat world of brown, brown, and more brown, Kodiak’s contemporary interiors have customers remembering us and requesting Kodiak by name.”

“Customers shopping for a new RV may feel the industry ‘all looks the same’, but not Kodiak,” Young added.

“New, modern interiors with trendy gray woods, white solid-surface countertops, stainless steel appliances, and contemporary lighting have set a new benchmark for the industry.”

Storage features abound in redesigned Kodiak.

Custom cabinetry increases storage by more than 40 percent, and overhead cabinets are wider, taller and deeper. Add Kodiak’s oversized exterior pass-through storage compartments, and customers can take everything they need to make their adventures complete.

“With imaginative floor plans, dependable quality and value, and eye-catching, distinctive interiors, Kodiak truly is tops in light weight and great looks,” said Young.

The company further announced that Infinity won “Best of Show” from RV PRO Magazine.

“The Best of Show product recommendation is a combination of product features, performance, and price,” said Bradley Worrell, managing editor of RV PRO.

“The new Infinity has retained many features typically only found in a high-line fifth wheel, while dropping down in price to the mid-line coach level. And, for those customers who want to upgrade, the Infinity offers a plethora of options.”

Infinity was cited as one product among dozens that delivers all the amenities people expect from a top quality fifth wheel, but with more space for a lower cost than other models deliver, according to Carter Yoder, Infinity product manager.

“Infinity is a premium fifth wheel at a mid-line price point. This is not your everyday RV,” Yoder said.

“With Infinity’s built-in value, there’s nothing like it on the market, especially in this price category.”

Infinity boasts modern interiors featuring custom leather residential furniture, three fresh decors, solid surface counters, and premium flooring, according to Yoder.

Outside, Infinity stands out with a sleek, aerodynamic front fiberglass cap with LED lights, bold exterior graphics, and frameless windows, he added.

Infinity’s 365-Tech 4-star insulation system provides year-round comfort, and the 100-inch wide-body design offers spacious rooms and storage throughout.

Aerolite received a “Top RV Debut” designation from RV Business, a North American print and digital RV trade publication, according to a company news release.

In describing the parameters of a Top RV Debut, RV Business explained the chosen company must embrace cutting-edge innovation and highlight “specific eye-catching RVs that we think are most likely to draw a majority of attention among current and future campers cruising the aisles of retail shows throughout North America.”

Aerolite accomplishes that in spades, said Ryan Elliott, Aerolite product manager.

“Aerolite narrowed the product lineup to conventional lightweight travel trailers and expandables, while revamping the look of the line with new colors, graphics, and floor plans,” he said.

“Aerolites provide well-planned, comfortable seating areas, generous kitchens, and practical baths and bedrooms. Families appreciate the time our engineers and interior designers spent making their vacation experiences the best ever,” Elliott noted.

“Aerolite offers tons of living and storage space for the money. They utilize every square inch to guarantee your family will have everything packed and ready for their next perfect camping experience.”

RV Dealership Captures Legacy with 1974 Holiday Rambler Trailer

Grand Rapids, Michigan-based Veurinks’ RV Center is marking its 50th year as a Holiday Rambler, a milestone that was recognized by the Holiday Rambler RV Club at its rally in May.

Veurinks’ RV is promoting its longtime association with the iconic brand in a novel way.

Tim Veurink, son of the company’s founder Howard Veurink and current president, recently had the opportunity to buy an all original 1974 12-foot Holiday Ramblette travel trailer, according to a news release.

And a it turned out, it was the very first new Holiday Rambler that Veurink sold off the showroom floor when he was 16 years old.

“I received a message with some photos via Facebook from a lady south of town wanting to know if I could give her a value of her 1974 12-foot Holiday Ramblette,” Veurink said.

“When I saw the photos, I knew immediately that this was the one that I sold 39 years ago since there were very few 12-footers made and Veurinks had only sold one. I struck a deal with the seller and pulled the trailer back home and it now sits in the dealership’s showroom.”

Anticipating the 50th anniversary, Veurink said he had been looking for a 1963 Holiday for several years that would represent the first new Holiday Rambler trailer sold by the dealership.

“I did not want a big project of reconditioning, but I just could not find one that was in good enough condition,” he said.

“The 1974 was in amazing condition, all original, and since this was the unit that I had sold in 1974 we thought it would have a great story and I just had to buy it.”

Veurink said that the Ramblette has been a big hit, adding, “Often people ask if they can buy it but it is not for sale.”

Still More September RV Manufacturer Recalls

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has recently announced 4 recall notices involving 4 recreational vehicle/chassis manufacturers—Dutchmen Manufacturing, Heartland Recreational Vehicles, Columbia Northwest, and Winnebago Industries.

Dutchmen Manufacturing, Inc.

DutchmanGoshen, Indiana-based Dutchmen Manufacturing, Inc. is recalling 168 model year 2014 Voltage recreational vehicles manufactured July 18, 2013, through August 20, 2013. The vehicles may not have the clamp installed correctly at the generator fuel filter.

Without a correctly installed clamp, the fuel line may become disconnected, resulting in a fuel leak, which could lead to an increased risk of fire, personal injury and property damage.

Dutchmen will notify owners, and dealers will inspect and correct the installation of the clamp, as needed, free of charge.

The recall is expected to begin in September 2013.

Owners may contact Dutchmen Customer Service by calling 1-574-537-0700.

Dutchmen’s recall number is 13-197.

Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov.

HeartlandElkhart, Indiana-based Heartland Recreational Vehicles, LLC is recalling 10 model year 2013 Cyclone 3110 fifth wheel travel trailers manufactured May 14, 2012, through June 29, 2012.

The vehicles were manufactured with incorrect Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) information printed on the Federal Certification Label. The actual Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) is 16,000 pounds but was listed as 18,000 pounds on the label. Thus, these vehicles fail to conform to Part 567, “Certification Regulation.”

Towing a vehicle loaded beyond the specified weight rating may result in a tire or suspension failure leading to poor vehicle handling and an increased risk of a crash.
Heartland will notify owners and will provide a replacement label, free of charge.

The recall is expected to begin by early October.

Owners may contact Heartland at 1-888-262-5992.

Heartland’s recall number is 99-01-14.

Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov.

aliner1Mt Pleasant, Pennsylvania-based Columbia Northwest, Inc. is recalling 4,565 model year 2006-2013 Aliner travel trailers manufactured January 1, 2006, through April 25, 2013. It may be possible to remove the key from the lock in a way that potentially jams the deadbolt.

If the deadbolt jams, the interior side of the door lock may also jam. A person inside the travel trailer at the time will then be locked in and be unable to exit the vehicle without using the emergency exit, increasing the risk of injury.
Columbia will notify owners, and Fastec will coordinate the inspection and replacement of the cylinders, as needed, free of charge.

The recall is expected to begin by early November 2013.

Owners may contact Columbia at 1-724-423-7440 or Fastec at 1-800-837-2505.

Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov.

This improper position does not allow the child seat to be used properly and in the event of a crash, it will not allow the child seat to properly protect the occupant, which increases the risk of injury.

Winnebago will notify owners, and dealers will remove the child tether, free of charge.

The recall is expected to begin in early October 2013.
