During the past several years we’ve had the pleasure of staying at numerous 5-star RV resorts. Following are some of the more memorable resorts for RV travel in February. Cajun Palms RV Resort, Henderson, Louisiana

New in 2009 with paved streets, Cajun Palms offers long pull-through sites that range in length from 55 to 75 feet. Not to be ignored are the back-ins to the lake in the 55-60 foot range. Pull through and back-in sites have 20 feet of space between each concrete pad.

A full service resort, Cajun Palms features numerous traditional as well as high tech amenities.

Accommodations consist of over 300 deluxe RV sites and 25 cabins. RV sites have full hookups, 30- and 50-amp, 70+ channels of digital cable, and on-site water and sewer. Easy-on, easy off Interstate 10 (Exit 115) at Henderson (near Breaux Bridge).

Texas Lakeside RV Resort, Port Lavaca, Texas

Texas Lakeside is a 5-star RV resort with long concrete pads, multi-purpose clubhouse, fitness center, tropical pool, stocked fishing lake, and gated entrance. All utilities including 30/50-amp electric service, water, sewer, and cable TV (58 channels including Fox News, CNBC, ESPN, and ESPN2) are centrally located.

Our long pull-through site (#78) faced northeast and as a result our coach was not affected by the afternoon sun. The Wi-Fi signal from our site was excellent. Texas Lakeside recently broke ground for 20 new pull-through and 21back-in sites. Located in Port Lavaca off Highway 35, 50 miles north of Rockport.

Lake Osprey RV Resort, Elberta, Alabama

An upscale resort near the Alabama Gulf Coast, Lake Osprey RV Resort offers 88 extra-large RV lots designed around 70 acres with an 11 acre Lake Osprey. Lake Osprey amenities include paved interior roads, 16-foot x 75-foot concrete pads, free laundry, hot tub, fitness center, clubhouse, and swimming pool. All utilities including 30/50-amp electric service, water, sewer, and cable TV are centrally located. Located adjacent to Soldiers Creek 18 hole championship golf course.

With 310 level sites and 17 new cottages, Casa Grande RV Resort is a perfect park for both short-term and long-term stay. Under new ownership, Casa Grande RV Resort in 2012 enjoyed a complete revitalization. Large back-in sites offer 30/50-amp electric service, water, and sewer; pull-through sites are available for overnight guests.

Park amenities include renovated resort center and dining area, new heated aerobic/volleyball swimming pool, two lighted pickle ball courts, new spa and barbecue area, fitness center with state-of-the-art equipment, billiard room with eight 9-foot tables, bocci ball and shuffleboard courts, leash-free bark park for Fido, and free telephone calls to the U.S. and Canada.

Hollywood Casino RV Park is big-rig friendly featuring 80 back-in sites and 14 back-to-back pull-through sites. Our site backs to a treed area on a bayou and is in the 55-60 foot range with 50/30-amp electric service, water, sewer, and cable TV (42 channels). Wi-Fi works well from our site; no problem locating satellite.

All interior roads and sites are concrete. Site amenities include metal picnic table and BBQ grill on concrete slab and garbage canister. Upon arrival one is directed to the laundry room with instructions to phone casino hotel registration who dispatches security to unlock electric service. Complete registration later at hotel registration. As with other casino RV parks, pay upon check-out.
