The 2017 National RV Trade Show, the largest industry gathering of RV manufacturers and their component parts suppliers, showcases some of the leading and emerging trends impacting the $27 billion-dollar RV industry.
Hosted by the Recreation Vehicle Industry Association (RVIA), the event is scheduled for November 27–30 at the Kentucky Exposition Center in Louisville, Kentucky.
According to a press release, with RV popularity soaring to an all-time high, the National RV Trade Show is the ideal venue to discover new offerings, explore emerging and growing trends, and network with industry professionals.
The world’s largest RV trade show brings together the entire RV industry under one roof and provides a national and international platform for media and industry professionals that help propel the industry forward.
According to RVIA’s 2015 economic impact study, more than 95 percent of the roughly 450,000 recreational vehicles produced each year in North America are manufactured in the U.S., employing nearly 300,000 Americans and paying $16 billion in wages.
Nearly 23,000 RV-related businesses in the United States create an overall economic impact of $50 billion.
Recreational vehicle brands contributing to this economically impactful trend include Forest River, Winnebago, Thor Industries, Newmar, REV Group, Tiffin Motor Homes, and dozens more.
All the hottest brands will be at the 2017 National RV Trade Show to share their custom craftsmanship and innovative designs.

Millennials are enjoying the outdoor lifestyle in record numbers and are contributing to the overall industry growth. They comprise 31 percent of the adult population but account for 38 percent of campers. 43 percent of millennials say access to mobile technology allows them to do their jobs remotely and spend more time camping.
According to KOA’s North American Camping Report, campers say technology allows them to spend more time camping and take an average of two additional vacation days for camping. Some of the manufacturers exhibiting at the event cater to the adventurous nature of millennials include Genesis, Taxa, Travel Lite, Liberty Outdoors, and Aliner.
RV manufacturers are integrating technology into new models in unique and useful ways including the incorporation of energy-efficient LED lights, home entertainment systems, device charging stations, wireless hotspots, and self-tuning satellite TV. These changes are making RVs just as convenient and comfortable as most homes.
RV manufacturers are also introducing new building materials and processes that reduce weight and allow for inventive designs.
OEMs are implementing laminated walls that are thinner, lighter weight, and stronger.
Manufacturers are using aluminum to replace wood framing in some models, which reduces weight without compromising structural strength.
And approximately 18 percent of RVs are equipped with solar panels.
