The interior features a clean, simple layout. There is plenty of room to read a book, get a good night’s sleep, and cook dinner all without the clutter of your gear.

The exterior features customizable racks for bikes and your outdoor gear. All of this lets you get away from the crowds in comfort.

The Drifter, by Seattle, Washington-based Drift House Campers, may appeal to those seeking a small, lightweight, and inexpensive trailer for weekend adventure and getaways.

It boasts a bed, kitchen area, some storage space, and optional off-grid extras. Prices start at $6,250.

The Drift House internet site states, “Our priorities are your priorities—exploring the world, traveling light, and saving money.”

When you go on adventures, you don’t want to spend an excessive amount of time or money in your travel expenditures. You want to see the world!

A large trailer is expensive, and it requires a larger vehicle, which then again requires dropping more cash. Not everyone wants a big truck, and with the lightweight camper design from Drift House, you don’t need one.

There are already plenty of trailers on the market, ranging in size and price from tiny models like the Hütte Hut to larger examples, such as the rugged ADAK Trailer.

The Drifter is on the smaller side and measures just 8 feet x 6.5 feet, weighing in at 1,400 pounds. It sits on 15-inch wheels and is finished in marine-grade aluminum and cedar wood.

Drift House Campers also says the trailer is well-insulated for all seasons, but we’ve no information on what kind of insulation it actually features.

Inside, the layout is simple and includes a Murphy bed with mattress and straps for bedding, storage shelving, full-height storage closet, under bed storage, full-width kitchen counter with sink and faucet, dry erase backsplash.

Outside, there’s a small storage chest, a gear holder for skis, snowboards, and camping gear, optional bike rack, and tie-on connections for attaching more gear or firewood.

A standard electric and water hookup is also installed. Access comes in the form of a single door and a pair of double-pane windows offer natural light and ventilation.

Optional extras include a bike rack, spare wheel, extra storage, a pull-out awning, and a toilet tent. The firm also offers some modest off-grid goodies in the form of a battery and solar panel package, and solar-powered lighting.

Worth Pondering…

To find the universal elements enough; to find the air and the water exhilarating; to be refreshed by a morning walk or an evening saunter… to be thrilled by the stars at night; to be elated over a bird’s nest or a wildflower in spring — these are some of the rewards of the simple life.
