Did you know La Grange has one of the state’s top kitchen stores?
Located in an historic building across the street from the Fayette County courthouse, La Petite Gourmet Shoppe is a specialty kitchen shop.
Le Petite Gourmet Shoppe features something everyone will love—from gadgets that make gourmet cooking a snap, to all the essential cookware, ingredients, and cutlery kitchen necessities.
La Petite Gourmet Shoppe has been open on the town square in La Grange since 2006; owner Donella Dopslauf-Cernosek keeps her store filled with the latest kitchen utensils, gadgets, and specialty products.
In August 2013, the store moved just around the corner to 226 West Colorado, which is still on the La Grange square but in a space that is twice the size of Le Petite’s previous home.
It’s also right down the street from the Texas Quilt Museum, which is worth the drive to La Grange all by itself.
Dopslauf-Cernosek says that with the move, she’s been able to expand the classroom, in which instructors from around the world, including in-store chef Mike Morphew, who famously was once on the kitchen staff at Buckingham Palace, teach cooking classes.
The store is packed to the gills with the latest cookware as well as jams, jellies, gourmet salsas and sauces—spiced maple pumpkin dip and jalapeno red plum barbecue sauce—exotic salts and peppers, and cutting boards so lovely it would be a crime to cut on them.
You can taste local jams and jellies, and find organic cleaning products and hand lotions, too.
The aisles are so crammed with specialty gadgets, coffee beans, teas, and spices from around the world that if anything new were to join the inventory, it would need to dangle from the rafters.
After all, cooks from near and far flock to this kitchen mecca for everything from doughnut makers and teak cutting boards to Penja green peppercorns from Cameroon.
That’s what Donella Dopslauf-Cernosek hoped for when she opened her first store here in 1981.
This place is your one stop shop for everything foodie related.
If you subscribe to the old adage “everything but the kitchen sink”, this place has got you covered.
Kitchen electrics and gadgets, China and other dishes/house wares, specialty foods galore, Chef’s knives including F.A. Porsche, Emeril line, Joyce Chen line, and cookbooks.
