Good Sam Announces Top Extended Stay RV Parks for 2014

The Good Sam RV Travel Guide and Campground Directory announced its list of Top Extended Stay RV Parks for 2014.

Good Sam 2014-Top-Extended-Stay-ShieldGood Sam editors and consultants chose the list of Extended Stay Parks from the annual publication’s database of 8,000 private parks.

The parks on this list provide amenities and services that keep RVers comfortable and entertained for long durations.

Whether staying for a couple of weeks or putting down stakes for a whole season, extended stay RVers seek a place that can serve as a temporary home away from home. These parks have created a niche for snowbird travelers, RVers on extended vacations or business travelers seeking a place to stay near a work location.

The highlights of this list include:

  • Planned activities are a key feature for many extended stay RV parks. Gold Canyon RV and Golf Resort in Arizona employs an on-site activities director who organizes potlucks, wine tasting events, comedy shows and dances with live music.
  • Some parks lure extended stay visitors in part because of the appeal of nearby cities. Oregon’s Portland Fairview RV Park is located just eight miles east of downtown Portland, Oregon, giving visitors the option of exploring a world class urban area during their stay.
  • Some resorts off all the amenities travelers need for an extended stay on the property. Ocean Lakes RV Resort in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, has a church, 12,000-square-foot market, bicycle rentals and a recreational building.

Although extended stay parks thrive in the sun belt, many are located in the northern states and cater to summer travelers.

Some extended stay parks serve seasonal business travelers who may remain in one location for months at a time.

Many extended stay travelers are full-time RVers who live out of their recreational vehicle and rely on a mail service to receive letters.
