MCD Celebrates Milestone

McKinney, Texas-based MCD Innovations announces that it is celebrating its 10th anniversary.

MCD-Slide9-Windshield-BeachMCD was conceived by full-time RVers Dave and Carla Townsley, and was incorporated in May 2003, beginning business as a manufacturer of private-label upscale exterior solar protection products for RV OEMs as well as for the aftermarket.

From the Townsley’s original vision, MCD has evolved and successfully grown into the largest roller shade manufacturer for the RV industry.

The Company’s natural evolution saw MCD bring its exterior solar protection products to the inside of the RV, elevating window roller shades to a class of their own, according to CEO Dave Townsley in a company news release.

The Company’s American Duo Shade System revolutionized the RV industry, with MCD working hand-in-hand with RV manufacturers to incorporate MCD-powered windshield shades into Class A coaches, providing full side-to-side visor and complete windshield coverage, as well as for all other windows in the vehicle, said Townsley.

The Company’s first facility was housed in a 7,500-square-foot building and employed a total of six people.

Two years later, MCD relocated to a 25,000-square-foot facility and grew to 45 employees. This move launched the introduction of state-of-the-art manufacturing equipment, which enabled the company to produce the best roller shades on the market, stated Townsley.

MCD-Slide5-D-N-OceanIn 2011, MCD expanded again, moving to a 9.6-acre campus with 56,000-square-feet of climate-controlled manufacturing and office space along with a ground-breaking research and innovation division, extensive machine shop capabilities utilizing computer-controlled equipment, a complete fabrication department, 24-hour-a-day testing processes, and the highest level quality control standards applied to every shade manufactured by the company, said Townsley.

“We believe the next ten years will be as exciting in terms of growth and innovation as the first ten,” said Townsley.

“We are thankful to our employees and customers for their support and commitment to helping us reach this milestone.”

“The core business values of creating products that are made in U.S.A. and offering the best products on the market have worked together to develop unbridled support from nationwide customers,” continued Townsley.

MCD currently maintains strategic alliances with manufacturers of Class A, B, C, fifth wheels, and travel trailers across the U.S. and Canada who install MCD shades as original equipment, including CoachHouse, Coachmen, Dodgen-Born Free, DRV, Dynamax, Excel, Featherlite, Foretravel, Heartland, Holiday Rambler, Itasca, Leisure Travel Vans, Liberty Coach, Lifestyle, Monaco, New Horizons, Newmar, Nexus, Phoenix, Renegade, Triple E RV, and Winnebago, among others.

MCD has also expanded to include the manufacture of shades for commercial and residential applications including well-known retailers such as Dunkin Donuts (in over 8,000 locations), Baskin Robbins (soon to exceed 1,100 locations), and others.

Worth Pondering…

All things are possible until they are proved impossible—and even the impossible may only be so, as of now.
