There has always been a lot of wildlife in Jack County, Texas.
Thanks to Larry and Vickie Rodgers, there’s now a whole bunch more—and they are not done yet.
Owners of Hidden Lake RV Ranch west of Jacksboro, Larry and Vickie have a love of animals.
They are bringing to their place some unusual critters not regularly seen around these parts of Texas, reports the Times Record News.
They have added several varieties of domestic and exotic animals to their land the RV ranch sits on, with more to arrive next year, a project they started thinking about five years ago.
“After years in the RV park business, we found one thing in common with all of our guests, regardless of their age: They all love animals. We wanted to be the first RV park in the U.S. to have a high-game-fence on our ranch, including the RV park, and bring in several different types of exotic animals. The idea is not to have fences separating exotic animals and RV guests,” Larry told Times Record News.
“We want our guests to have the opportunity to view or photograph the exotic animals at any given time, at any given place on the ranch. For instance, they could be sitting inside peering out their window or sitting outside their RV and see deer grazing, bedded down, or just hanging out in or near their campsites.”
In addition to adding more animals next year, they are planning to offer the general public the opportunity to take guided sightseeing safari tours of the ranch for a fee.
Tours are currently being offered to ranch guests.
In addition to white-tailed deer, the park has exotic rams, goats and sheep, and fallow deer.
The ranch also has various ducks, geese, great blue heron, egret, Osprey, king fisher, and seasonal birds such as hummingbirds, cardinals, blue jays, bluebirds, purple martins, woodpeckers, mockingbirds, roadrunners, owls, robins, painted buntings, bobwhite quail, and various songbirds.
And visitors also will see a paint horse, miniature donkeys, and miniature pigs.
Hidden Lake RV Ranch offers full hookups with 30- and 50-amp electric service.
The owners live on site.
The RV ranch also offers RV service and repair on site and mobile service to other locations (75 mile radius). Cabin and RV rental (check for availability). There also is a 20-plus-acre private fishing lake stocked with bass (no fishing license required), catfish, crappie and perch.
The park boasts shady campsites, picnic tables and fire rings, scenic walking/biking trails and a playground.
