McKinney, Texas-based MCD Innovations announced the introduction of the MCD SwayShade for aftermarket installations.
The patent-pending design provides complete coverage of cockpit windows that are considerably wider at the bottom than at the top due to the more aerodynamic shape many coach manufacturers are working to achieve these days.
A conventional shade, moving straight down, will not cover the front lower corner of these new, more angled windows.
As if by magic, the new MCD SwayShade is actually able to not only travel down but also sideways at the same time providing coverage needed for the lower forward corner of the window on these sleek designed motorhomes.
This new shade design has an adjustable, designed-in, “kick forward” feature which enables the shade to completely cover the window providing full privacy and sun protection. The “kick forward” movement can be as little as 1 inch to as much as 9 inches depending upon the particular requirement.
This shade design was initially a designed-for-RV manufacturers-only type of item produced in both manual and powered day/night shade versions.
And now— MCD has made the SwayShade available to the aftermarket.
“Resounding accolades from RV manufacturers, coupled with an ever growing number of requests by consumers and dealers for SwayShades to fit previously built coaches, has brought about the decision to make the unique shades available to the aftermarket,” said Peggy Grich, marketing director.
The SwayShade will be available to the aftermarket beginning May 1 in a number of standardized sizes to fit most applications in both manually-operated and powered day/night shade versions.

A number of manufacturers are designing coach models to be more aerodynamic by slanting the windshields further back than in the past. These designs typically cause cockpit side windows, especially on the driver’s side, to be considerably wider at the bottom than at the top.
A traditional shade, moving straight down, cannot and will not cover the front lower corner of these new, more angled windows. Several coach manufacturers facing this dilemma asked MCD if we could resolve the problem they were facing with their newly designed cockpit side windows.
